Transnistria – 1 Ruble – 2014
Transnistria is an independent, but unrecognized, state, between Moldova and Ukraine. It was carved out of Moldova in 1992, soon after the Soviet Union collapsed, by Russian-speakers in the area. Known as the “last pocket of the USSR”, Transnistria preserves many features of the Soviet Union. It became the first country in the world to issue plastic coins, each in a different shape and color. This one features Alexander Suvorov, a well-known Russian general.
