Soviet Union (USSR) – 15 Kopecks – 1941

In 1941, the Soviet Union was invaded by Nazi Germany, opening the eastern front of World War II. Because of wartime shortages, coin production slowed, and coins issued in 1941 were part of the last full-sized issue until 1945. This was compounded that one of the Soviet Union’s two mints was in Leningrad, which was under siege for much of the war.
