German Empire – Prussia – 2 Mark – Wilhelm II – 1901 (200th Anniversary of Prussia)

After Germany was unified in 1871, individual states maintained the privilege of minting their own silver and gold coins worth more than one mark. To honor the 200th anniversary of its founding, Prussia issued a set of commemorative coins in 1901. They depicted¬†Friedrich I, Prussia’s first king, and Wilhelm II, the king of Prussia and emperor of Germany at the time.
