China – Empire – 1 Cash (Kaiyuan Tongbao)

Kāiyuán Tōngbǎo (literally: “circulating treasure from the inauguration of a new epoch”) was a system of copper coinage under the Chinese Tang dynasty. These coins were the first to be inscribed with tōng bǎo (通寶), roughly meaning legal tender, instead of the denomination. This coin was produced during the Wude era of the Emperor Gaozu.
