Belgium – 100 Francs – Leopold III – 1950
This coin was first issued after WWII. It features the first four kings of Belgium – Leopold I, Leopold II, Albert I, and Leopold III. Leopold I was originally offered the throne of Greece, but took the Belgian one instead. He modernized the new country, and prevented Dutch attempt to take it over. Leopold II is famous for his brutality as owner of the Congo. Albert I was king during WWI, when 90% of Belgium was occupied by Germany, while Leopold III was king during WWII, and was allowed to remain king despite the fact that Germany occupied the entire country.
